IN-PERSON Studio classes

I currently offer monthly workshops in The Barn, a lovely space just down the road from me in Medstead, with space for up to 10 students. This space is not only absolutely beautiful but the studio has good lighting and plenty of space, with kitchen and toilet facilities. These workshops are accessible to range of abilities and run across 2 consecutive days, with flexibility in how and what each student wants to learn!

For the foreseeable future, I am running workshops in The Barn on 2 consecutive days per month. We will cover various types of embroidery, catered to all ability levels, and the option will be available for you to attend just one or both days as you prefer.

All classes are a full day (9.30am – 4.30pm). A £25 deposit is required at the time of booking. Light refreshments are provided as part of the cost including various teas, coffees, juices, cake and biscuits, etc. Please supply your own lunch pack.

See the events below for the current dates, and keep your eyes peeled for even more workshops to come soon!

What will we be stitching?

I offer a range of projects or you may bring your own projects with you to work on under my guidance. If you are looking for a specific technique or style and you don’t see it in the list of projects here then please do contact me and I will be happy to accommodate.

I carry a full range of kits as well as silk ribbons, hand-dyed threads and haberdashery including some DMC threads, as well as fabric, hoops and needles, etc., which you are welcome to browse from and purchase on the day.

Travelling to Medstead

I live in a small village in north Hampshire close to Alton. Despite being a small village it has good road links close to the A31 and is just a 25 minute drive from the historic city of Winchester. The nearest railway station is Alton which is just a 15 minute drive away and has good links to London.

If you are planning an overnight stay to join one of my classes which are held in the Barn in Medstead, you will find plenty of excellent B&Bs and pubs in the locality, as well as in Winchester itself. We are also quite close to both the naturalist Gilbert White’s House in Selborne and the Jane Austen House museum in Chawton if you are looking for activities to make a few days of it.

Where to stay

If you are coming to one of my workshops from further afield and need somewhere to stay then I have compiled this selection of local B&Bs and hotels close to my Medstead studio. Please take a look and do contact the venues if you have any questions or would like to make a booking for a room.  If you are driving and therefore have your own transport, there are many more B&B’s to be had in the areas of Alton, Chawton and Alresford, amongst others. I am happy to pick up anyone staying in Medstead on the day of the workshop if you do not have transport.
