Russia here we come!

JOIN ME, TAKE A CLASS IN ST PETERSBURG,  RUSSIA!

 24 September – 2 October!

Earlier this year, Jean Krynicki of River Silks,  invited me to accompany and teach alongside her in St Petersburg, where Maria Shilina has a shop. What excitement for me! It is a place that has fascinated me since I was a little girl – finally I will live the dream!

Jean is a specialist in using silk ribbon on canvas whereas I will be working with flowers, on silk and linen fabrics. Together we will be running classes over the 2 weekends that we are there and then also in the evenings if there is demand – all very exciting. Her ribbons are wonderful to work with as they do not ladder and so are very suitable for both canvas work as well as creating flowers on embroidery fabric. Samples of her work and mine can both be seen on my website and on hers – www.riversilks.com. Jean will be teaching a variety of stitches and techniques on canvas, from the regular French knot through to Turkey Work and the Ryja Knot. She an experienced teacher and the author of a book on canvas techniques and silk ribbon.  I will be teaching a silk garland of flowers, photo-transfer techniques and possibly a bit of stumpwork.

As I have had a number of customers from Russia, I thought I would promote Maria and her venture on my site. If you are interested in attending any of the classes please contact her through her website or on the details below. Jean and I would love to meet as many fellow stitchers as we can while we are over there.

Maria  lives and works in Saint Petersburg.  Since 1994 she and her husband have been running a small family business – a printing company, and a year ago started a new line in the  company: top quality materials for embroidery, in particular silk ribbon embroidery. She also organizes workshops and courses.  Please visit her web site for further details:www.rukodeliedelux.ru.

Maria has recently  leased a new shop in a very upmarket mall in St Petersburg – see address below – where Jean and I will be teaching, as she will be moving into it prior to our arrival, so we are very excited about that too!
