January 2011

January  2011 update

2011 seems to be well on its way so my best wishes for 2011 are somewhat late but very well intentioned.  The snow caused utter chaos over the Christmas period leaving us with extra visitors and others not able to get to visit us.  So a very odd start to the New Year, with the last of the visitors leaving on 13 January and since then I have been doing my level best to catch up on emails, letters and updating the wesite.
2011 looks to a year filled with lots of excitement and very hard work for me:-
Chameleon Threads
The new range of Perle No: 12 is now finally up, with 88 new colours for sale – simply wonderful range of colours and the most fabulous thread to work with – I just love it. ( Thanks Jos for the hard work!)
River Silks
I now have quite a broad range of silk ribbons and cannot emphasize enough how superb their quality is. For those of you who wish to experiment on canvas this has to be the ultimate find in durability and non-fraying silk. They are a pleasure to work with and I will  be launching a new silk ribbon pin cushion design in February using their variegated colours.
Exhibitions &Shows
I have been invited to exhibit at Ramster House this year in April,  at the Embroidery and Textile art Exhibition that is held there every two years. It is , as many of you will know, a wonderful exhibion, with a large display of textiles –  well worth a visit as the gardens are also open.  Visit  www.ramsterevents.com  for further details or I can happily pop a brochure in the post to you.
I will be at both the Sew for Pleasure show in Glasgow in March as well the NEC in Birmingham.  I will be doing the taster workshops in slk ribbon embroidery at the SECC and will be demonstarting crewel stitches on the Madeira stand at the NEC each day.  That is in addition to demonstrating all day on my own stand , so as you all know, I love to have you pop by to say hello and for a quick chat.
Teaching
We are now relatively well established in our new home so my classes are back up and running – all I need now is a narrow farmstyle table!
I have been invited to teach aboard the Queen Mary in July – very exciting – please see attached poster.
There is a possibility that I will be going across to St Petersburg to teach – so fingers crossed and watch this space!
The France trip is definitely on this May and there are still a few places available. Please see my website for details or or I can pop a brochure in the post to you.
Stitch Magazine
I will have some of my work published again in Stitch magazine in March.
New Designs
I will be launching a new silk ribbon design (possibly two!) for the shows as well as my design sampler piece for Ramster – this will be available in pattern and print only. ( at last Ros!)
In addition to my own website I now have two virtual shops on www.etsy.com amd www.folksy.com.  For a different shopping experience, do take a look.  You have to register emails details that is all – there is no charge.
Look forward to seeing some of you at shows this year – I do hope it is a good stitching year for all of us – keeps all the doom and gloom of the recession at bay!
Enjoy stitching.
Lorna
